Inspired by the working shaker men of New Lebanon: Our Shaker peg rack is an example of the Shaker style of simple living. While the number of Shaker communities around the world today is small their influence on modern furniture and various utilitarian items for the home still prevails.
Originally, the shaker peg rack design was the consequence of a need to help store clothing damaged by Shaker men doing work in the fields when they came in for the the midday meal, which was the largest of the day. Accordingly, the Shaker Peg rack was a utilitarian design designed to hold several levels of outdoor clothing easily.
Wood shaker racks where hand made from any wood but traditionally and favourably from attractive hardwood such as Cherry, Oak or Maple hardwood from the mountain forests from Appalachia. Our boards are a shining example of the traditional shaker lifestyle, recreating their timeless design and emphasising their simplistic functional nature to create a present day timeless classic.
